Data depicts locations of edible periwinkles around the Irish coast and has been used as a proxy for 'harvesting and collecting activity' in support of Marine Strategy Framework Directive article 8, 9 10 reporting. Edible periwinkles are found on many shorelines around Ireland. Although not very popular in Irish cuisine, many thousands of tons are collected each year for export.
