Data depicts locations of edible periwinkles around the Irish coast and has been used as a proxy for 'harvesting and collecting activity' in support of Marine Strategy Framework Directive article 8, 9 10 reporting. Edible periwinkles are found on many shorelines around Ireland. Although not very popular in Irish cuisine, many thousands of tons are collected each year for export. Data has been sourced from the Marine Irish Digital Atlas (MIDA).
